2009 Permanent Endowment Fund Distribution

Dear Church Leadership,

The Permanent Endowment Fund (PEF) will be making a distribution in 2009 for the very first time. Since this is a new process for us, the PEF Committee would like your input. The PEF Guidelines call for distributions to be made "to support programs and needs not normally included in the church’s operating budget”. What does this mean to you?

The PEF Guidelines also charge the PEF Committee with putting forward a recommendation to the Church Council for the use of the annual distribution. To that end, the PEF Committee will soon be soliciting proposals for the use of the funds to be distributed this year. While the funds available for distribution are quite small ($309.19), we nevertheless want to develop a process for making the annual distribution which is consistent with the interests and the priorities of the church at large.

The purpose of this Blog is to get your input on what types of activities you would like the Permanent Endowment Fund to support through it's annual distributions. If you have a specific proposal you would like to make, that would be great. However, our principle interest right now is to hear what factors you would like us to consider and what priorities you would like us to have in mind as we review the proposals we receive.
